Method 1: Turn on Fire TV Display Mirroring (Android)
This is Amazon's built-in screen mirroring. It is the free path people mean when they search for an app. It sends the whole Android Home Screen to Fire TV. Start here if the phone is Android.
- Press Home on the Fire TV remote.
- Open Settings > Display & Sounds.
- Turn on Enable Display Mirroring. On some Fire OS builds it sits under Display > Screen Mirroring.
- On the Android phone, swipe down and tap the Cast, Smart View, or Screen Cast tile.
- Pick the Fire TV. Unlock the phone if the TV stays black.

When it will not work: you have an iPhone. That is not a missed setting. Guest Wi-Fi also hides the stick. A 5 GHz / 2.4 GHz split can hide it too. If the Android tile finds nothing, flip the Display Mirroring switch off and on, then retry.
Method 2: Cast one app, not the whole Home Screen
You often do not need a full mirror. YouTube and many streaming apps can send one video to Fire TV. That is not the phone Home Screen. It is still what a lot of people came here to do. No extra mirroring app is required.
- Put the phone and Fire TV on the same Wi-Fi. Not guest.
- Open the app on Fire TV, or leave Fire TV on the home screen.
- Open the same app on the phone.
- Tap the Cast or TV icon. Pick the Fire TV.
- Play the video on the phone. It should start on the TV.
Each app decides. There is no system-wide Cast on iPhone. Safari pages and the Home Screen will not appear this way. If Fire TV is offline, the app cannot see it.

Method 3: Plug in HDMI when wireless fails
A cable bypasses Fire TV software. It shows the whole phone, including apps with no Cast button. It is the official Apple path for iPhone. It also saves an Android night when Wi-Fi is down.
- iPhone 14 and earlier: Lightning Digital AV Adapter plus an HDMI cable.
- iPhone 15 and later: USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter plus an HDMI cable.
- Android phones with USB-C: a USB-C to HDMI adapter plus an HDMI cable.
- Plug the HDMI cable into a free HDMI port on the TV.
- Plug the other end into the adapter, then into the phone.
- Some adapters need power in the extra port. Use it if the TV stays black.
- Switch the TV input to that HDMI port.
- Unlock the phone. The screen should appear.

When it will not work: the Fire Stick is using your only HDMI port. Unplug the stick or add an HDMI switch. Cheap no-name adapters often show no signal. Keep the phone unlocked. A locked phone can sit on a black frame.
This path bypasses the stick. You are watching the phone, not the Fire TV home screen. That is the tradeoff, and it is the one that works with no Wi-Fi.
Method 4: Open Settings and switch HDMI with HiRemote
HiRemote does not screen mirror. It is a Hisense TV remote. That still matters if your Fire TV is a Hisense Fire TV Edition, or if a stick is plugged into a Hisense.
On a Hisense Fire TV Edition, Fire TV is built into the panel. You still cannot AirPlay. You can turn on Display Mirroring for Android, or switch HDMI, from the phone.
- Put the iPhone and the Hisense on the same home Wi-Fi. Guest Wi-Fi hides the set.
- On the TV, open Settings > Network and turn on Allow LAN device control.
- Download HiRemote (listed as Remote for Hisense Smart TV) and pick Hisense Fire TV.
- Confirm Allow this phone to control the TV? on the set. The chassis power button can act as Select if the plastic remote is gone.
- Use the D-pad to open Settings, turn on Display Mirroring, or switch HDMI. Use the keyboard when an app asks for a password.
If the Fire Stick is a dongle in a Hisense VIDAA, Roku, or Google TV, HiRemote talks to the Hisense, not to the stick. That is still useful for volume, power, and HDMI.
