How to Use Display Mirroring From iPhone to Fire TV

The 30-second test

Do this before you hunt for a hidden iPhone toggle. It tells you which path below is real.

• iPhone: Open Control Center. Tap Screen Mirroring. If you only see Apple TVs and speakers, Fire TV will not appear. That is normal.
• Fire TV: Press Home. Open Settings > Display & Sounds. Turn on Enable Display Mirroring. That list is for Android phones.
• Home screen: Continue watching and Prime rows mean Fire TV. A Discover bar means Hisense VIDAA, not Fire TV.
• HDMI: Check for a free HDMI port. A cable is the official full-screen path for iPhone.

If Control Center hides the Fire TV, you did not miss a setting. iPhone Display Mirroring is AirPlay. Fire TV Display Mirroring is an Android tool. Those two do not meet.

If this is a Hisense Fire TV Edition, you still need a remote to switch HDMI and open Settings. Method 1: Plug in a Lightning or USB-C HDMI adapter

This is the official Apple path. It shows the whole iPhone, including Control Center. Apps with no Cast button show up too. It does not use Fire TV software at all.

Pick the adapter that matches your phone:

• iPhone 14 and earlier: Lightning Digital AV Adapter plus an HDMI cable.
• iPhone 15 and later: USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter plus an HDMI cable.

1. Plug the HDMI cable into a free HDMI port on the TV.
2. Plug the other end into the Apple adapter.
3. Plug the adapter into the iPhone. Some adapters need power in the extra port.
4. On the TV, switch the input to that HDMI port.
5. Unlock the iPhone. The screen should appear on the TV.

When it will not work: the Fire Stick is using your only HDMI port. Unplug the stick or add an HDMI switch. Cheap no-name adapters often show no signal. Apple's adapter is the one I trust. Keep the phone unlocked. A locked iPhone can sit on a black frame.

This path bypasses Fire TV. You are watching the iPhone, not the Fire TV home screen. That is the tradeoff, and it is the one that actually works.

Method 2: Cast from one app, not the whole Home Screen

You often do not need a full display mirror. YouTube and many streaming apps can send one video to Fire TV. That is not the iPhone Home Screen. It is still what most people want.

1. Put the iPhone and Fire TV on the same Wi-Fi. Not guest.
2. Open the app on Fire TV, or leave Fire TV on the home screen.
3. Open the same app on the iPhone.
4. Tap the Cast or TV icon. Pick the Fire TV.
5. Play the video on the phone. It should start on the TV.

There is no system-wide Cast on iPhone. Each app decides. Safari pages and the Home Screen will not appear this way. If Fire TV is offline, the app cannot see it.

When it will not work: the app has no Fire TV target. The iPhone is on a guest network. You signed into different accounts. Photos and the camera roll usually need HDMI instead.

Method 3: Turn on Fire TV Display Mirroring (Android only)

Do this once so you stop blaming your iPhone. Amazon's built-in Display Mirroring is for Android phones. An iPhone will not appear in that list.

1. Press Home on the Fire TV remote.
2. Open Settings > Display & Sounds.
3. Turn on Enable Display Mirroring. On some Fire OS builds it sits under Display > Screen Mirroring.
4. On an Android phone, open the Quick Settings tile for Cast, Smart View, or Screen Cast. Pick the Fire TV.
5. On iPhone, open Control Center > Screen Mirroring. The Fire TV will not be there.

When it will not work: you have an iPhone. That is not a setting you missed. Same Wi-Fi is still required for any Android attempt. A 5 GHz / 2.4 GHz split can hide Fire TV from Android too.

Method 4: Use a receiver app for wireless iPhone Display Mirroring

A third-party AirPlay receiver on Fire TV can show an iPhone wirelessly. I have used AirScreen for this. It is free and ad-supported. Quality is good enough for photos. It is weak for games or a work deck.

1. On Fire TV, open the Amazon Appstore and search AirScreen.
2. Install it and open it. Leave it on the ready screen.
3. Put the iPhone on the same Wi-Fi. Not guest.
4. Open Control Center > Screen Mirroring and pick the AirScreen name.
5. Enter the code on the TV if asked.

When it will not work: guest Wi-Fi, a split-band router, or a Fire TV that blocks the Appstore. Video and audio can drift. Ads sit on the TV. For anything that matters, use the HDMI path in Method 1.

I will not pretend this matches Apple AirPlay on a Hisense Google TV. It is a workaround. HDMI is the wireless-free path I use when the picture has to be clean.

Method 5: Switch HDMI and control a Hisense Fire TV Edition with HiRemote

HiRemote does not send the iPhone screen to Fire TV. It is a Hisense TV remote. That still matters if your Fire TV is built into a Hisense panel, or if a stick sits in a Hisense HDMI port.

On a Hisense Fire TV Edition, Fire TV software is built into the TV. You still cannot AirPlay. You can use HDMI or app cast. You can drive the TV from your phone.

1. Put the iPhone and the Hisense on the same Wi-Fi.
2. On the TV, open Settings > Network and turn on Allow LAN device control.
3. Download HiRemote and pick your Hisense Fire TV model.
4. Follow the pairing steps. Confirm the allow prompt on the TV.
5. Use the D-pad to open Settings, switch HDMI, or launch YouTube or Prime Video.
6. Use the keyboard when an app asks for a password.

When it will not work: HiRemote is not a screen mirror tool. It focuses on Hisense Fire TV Edition TVs, not a stick on a Samsung or LG. TV and phone must share the same LAN. Guest Wi-Fi will fail. Bluetooth game controllers still pair to the TV, not through the app.
