Most “nearby” searches end on the couch, not in a store. Check these spots in order.
- Between seat cushions and under the sofa frame
- Inside blanket folds and throw-pillow covers
- Under the coffee table and behind the TV stand
- In laundry baskets, diaper bags, and kids’ toy bins
- On the kitchen counter if someone paused a show mid-snack
Use your phone flashlight at a low angle across the floor. Dark remotes disappear on dark carpet. This method needs no Wi-Fi and no tools.
When it fails: if you already searched twice, stop. A second full room sweep rarely helps. Move to the IR test, then the phone remote.
Method 2: Test whether the remote still works (phone camera)
If you find a remote but buttons do nothing, confirm the IR emitter before you buy anything. Open your phone camera. Point the remote’s front end at the lens. Press Volume or Power.
