The most common universal remote codes for a Hisense TV are 0073, 0095, 0156, 0182, and 0227 — but the right one depends on which universal remote brand you have. GE remotes use 4-digit codes. RCA uses 4-digit. Comcast/Xfinity uses 5-digit. Spectrum uses 5-digit.

If you're in a hurry, try 0073 first — it's the most universal Hisense code across brands.
How to program a universal remote
- Turn on your Hisense TV manually.
- On the universal remote, press and hold the TV button (or Setup).
- Enter the code from the table.
- The remote LED should blink twice or stay solid — confirms.
- Test power, volume, channel buttons.
GE Universal Remotes
GE makes the most popular universal remote on the US market. Programming 4-digit:
- Turn on TV.
- Press and hold Setup until the red LED stays on.
- Press TV (the LED blinks once).
- Enter the 4-digit code (LED turns off when complete).
- Test.
If no code works, GE has an auto-search: hold Setup, press TV, then press Power repeatedly until the TV turns off, then press Setup to lock in.
RCA Universal Remotes
Press and hold the TV button until the red light stays on. Enter the code. Light turns off if accepted.
One For All Remotes
Hold Magic until LED blinks twice. Press TV. Enter 4-digit code. LED blinks twice to confirm.
Comcast / Xfinity Remotes (XR2, XR5, XR11, XR15)
For XR15: Press and hold Setup until LED changes from red to green. Enter 5-digit code. LED blinks green to confirm.
None of the codes work?
- Power-cycle the TV (unplug 30 seconds). If even the original Hisense remote doesn't work, the issue is with the TV's IR sensor.
- Universal remote's batteries might be too weak. Fresh batteries.
- Try the auto-search method.
- Some Hisense Roku TV models reject all universal remotes — they're hardware-locked to BT pairing only. The fix is a Roku-branded universal OR our phone remote app (which uses the network, not IR).
Cheaper alternative: use your phone
The phone remote app is free, pairs in 30 seconds, has a real keyboard for typing in passwords, and supports every Hisense smart TV from 2018+. If you have a smartphone and your TV is on Wi-Fi, you don't need a universal remote at all.
Hisense codes by TV series (2018-2026)
The universal remote code is normally the same across an entire Hisense lineup, but some series-specific quirks exist. If the universal codes above don't work, try the series-specific code:
| Hisense Series | Platform | Recommended 4-digit | Recommended 5-digit |
|---|---|---|---|
| H4, H5, H6 series (2018-2019) | Roku / VIDAA | 0073 | 11423 |
| H7, H8, H9, U6, U7, U8 (2020-2022) | VIDAA / Android TV / Roku | 0073, 0156 | 11314, 11660 |
| A4, A6, A7 (2021-2023 budget) | VIDAA / Roku | 0227, 0073 | 11314 |
| U6K, U7K, U8K (2023+) | VIDAA / Google TV | 0073, 0182 | 11314, 12183 |
| R6, R7, R8, R9 (Roku-only) | Roku TV | 0182 | 11756 |
| QD6, QD65 (QLED 2024+) | VIDAA / Google TV | 0073 | 11314 |
Less common universal remotes
Logitech Harmony
Harmony uses its own database — you don't enter codes manually. In the Harmony app: Add device → Television → Brand "Hisense" → Model number (find on TV back panel). Harmony auto-loads the right codes. Note: Logitech discontinued Harmony in 2021 but existing devices still work and the cloud DB is still maintained for now.
Pioneer / Onkyo / Yamaha AV receivers
For AV remotes controlling Hisense TV as part of a home theater setup: most use 4-digit codes. Try 0073 first, then 0227, then 1156. Pioneer's auto-search method usually works.
Sky Q / Virgin Media remotes (UK)
Sky Q: 4-digit code 1156 or 0156. Virgin Media TiVo: 4-digit 0073 works on most. For Sky Glass remote, it's pre-paired to Sky Glass TV only — won't work with Hisense.
Cable provider remotes by region
| Provider | Country | Code |
|---|---|---|
| Comcast/Xfinity XR15 | US | 11314 |
| Spectrum 1060BC4 | US | 11756 |
| Cox URC2220 | US | 11314 |
| Verizon FiOS | US | 1156 |
| Telus (Optik TV) | Canada | 1156 |
| Rogers (Ignite) | Canada | 11314 |
| Bell (Fibe TV) | Canada | 0073 |
Code accepted but TV still doesn't respond
You enter the code, the LED confirms (blink twice, or solid), but pressing buttons does nothing. Three causes:
- Wrong code for your model year — try the next code in the series-specific table above.
- IR sensor is partially blocked or dirty — clean the TV's IR receiver (small black dot, usually bottom-center bezel). Test by removing any decorations from in front of it.
- Universal remote sending too-weak IR signal — fresh batteries. Some universals have weaker IR LEDs than the original Hisense remote, so they require closer range (2-3 ft instead of 10+).
FAQ
What is the 4-digit code for a Hisense TV?
The most common is 0073 (works for GE, One For All, DirecTV, and Verizon remotes). Backups: 0156, 0227, 0182, 1156. For Hisense Roku TVs specifically (R-series), try 0182 first.
What is the 5-digit code for a Hisense TV?
The most common is 11314 (works for Comcast/Xfinity, Cox, GE 8-in-1). Backups: 11660, 11423, 11756, 12183.
Can a Roku universal remote control a Hisense Roku TV?
Yes — Hisense Roku TVs accept Roku-branded universal remotes. Code-based pairing isn't necessary; Roku universals discover the TV over the network. The official Roku TV remote (Voice Remote Pro) also works on any Hisense Roku TV out of the box.
Why won't any universal remote code work on my Hisense?
Three causes: (1) it's a Hisense Roku TV that uses Bluetooth-only pairing (no IR codes accepted — needs a Roku remote); (2) the TV's IR receiver is dead (test with phone-camera trick — point phone camera at IR sensor, press original remote, you should see purple light through the camera); (3) wrong remote brand for that TV generation (try the series-specific code from the table above).
Does Hisense use the same code across all models?
Mostly yes — 0073 (4-digit) and 11314 (5-digit) work across most Hisense lineup from 2018+. Exceptions: Roku-only models (R-series) prefer 0182/11756, and the QLED QD6/QD65 series sometimes responds better to 12183.
Is there a free alternative to a universal remote for Hisense?
Yes — the free iPhone Remote for Hisense TV app works with every modern Hisense smart TV without IR codes (it uses Wi-Fi). No remote brand selection, no programming codes, no $20 hardware purchase. Pairs in 30 seconds. Apple Watch support on Pro tier.
Will a Hisense remote work on a Hisense TV from a different year?
Usually yes — Hisense IR remotes are forward and backward compatible within ±3 years. A 2024 H8N remote will control a 2020 H8G TV and vice-versa. Exceptions: Roku-paired remotes (Bluetooth-only) only work on the TV they were originally paired to.
