GE universal remote control codes are 4-digit numbers you type after holding SETUP and pressing TV. For Hisense, start with 0671, then try 2081, 2211, 4391, or 5331. Match the list to the CL3–CL6 mark under the battery cover. For Samsung, LG, Vizio, or Sony, use the booklet or Jasco's finder. We do not invent those tables.
I keep a GE 33709 in the junk drawer for nights the original Hisense remote vanishes. It took three codes to lock it to my Hisense A6, which runs VIDAA. 0671 was the one that stuck. The same clicker never opened the purple tiles on my daughter's Hisense R6 Roku TV.
The 30-second test
Flip the remote over. Open the battery bay. You want a SETUP key and a CL mark (CL3, CL4, CL5, or CL6). Current GE clickers ask for a 4-digit code, not five.
Point your phone camera at the front of the remote and press Power. A live remote shows a faint purple flash. No flash means the IR LED is dead. Swap both batteries and test again.
Then look at the TV home screen. Purple Roku tiles mean a GE code may still do power and volume. It will not drive Home, OK, or Netflix. VIDAA or Google TV Hisense sets are the ones that take a full code.

Method 1: Find the CL version for your code list
Flip the remote over, or pop the battery cover. Look for a small CL3, CL4, CL5, or CL6 mark. Some prints say v5 instead of CL5. That mark picks which code list the remote actually stores.
I treat an unmarked remote as CL4 and work down that row. The GE 33709 I use shows the mark under the cover. A code from the wrong version is why people say none of the codes work. Write the mark down before you start Method 2.
When this fails: no CL mark and no booklet. Start with 0671 anyway. Then run auto-search if Power never responds.
Method 2: Enter a 4-digit GE code
Turn the TV on. Stand a few feet in front of it. Then enter one code at a time. Test Power after each code.
- Press and hold SETUP until the red light stays lit.
- Press the TV device key.
- Type a 4-digit code from the row that matches your CL version.
- Press Power. If the TV switches off, press SETUP once to lock the code.
- Turn the TV back on and test Volume, Mute, and Input. Do not stop at Power.
If nothing happens, repeat with the next code. These Hisense codes are the same set we list in the Hisense TV remote codes guide. Write down the code that works. GE remotes forget it when batteries sit dead for weeks.

Start with 0671 if you are unsure of the version. That code sits in every GE row from CL3 to CL6. GE remotes use 4-digit TV codes, not the 5-digit lists that cable boxes use.
Test volume, not just Power. The first hit is often a partial match. When this fails: the TV needs the Hisense home screen, the IR window is blocked, or the code is from the wrong CL row. Do not keep guessing random 5-digit numbers.

Method 3: Look up codes for other TV brands
We only publish Hisense numbers we can stand behind. For Samsung, LG, Vizio, or Sony, use the paper booklet in the box. Jasco makes GE-branded remotes. Their site at byjasco.com lists codes by remote model.
Press the device key that matches what you want to run. Use TV for the screen. Use DVD, CBL, SAT, AUX, or AUD only when that is the device in front of you. Then type the booklet code for that brand. A Hisense number will not map to a Samsung set.
When this fails: you lost the booklet, or the printed list has no row for your brand. Skip to Method 4 and let the remote walk its own library. Do not paste a Spectrum or DirecTV 5-digit code into a GE TV key. Those lists belong to cable-box remotes.
Method 4: Run GE auto-search when no code fits
Use this when every listed code fails and the camera test still shows a purple flash. Auto-search walks the remote through its library. Jasco publishes the path on its auto code search page. This is the free path for a TV brand we do not list.
- Turn the TV on by hand.
- Hold SETUP until the red light stays on. Release SETUP.
- Press TV. The light blinks once and stays on.
- Point at the TV. Press Power once. The remote sends ten codes.
- If the TV did not turn off, turn it back on and press Power again.
- If the TV turned off, press Volume Up once. Wait about three seconds.
- Keep tapping Volume Up until the TV turns off again.
- Press TV once to store it. Do not use SETUP to save on this flow.
- Test volume, mute, and input.
Volume Down steps backward through the same batch. The red light flashes twice at the first or last code in a group of ten. If your printed booklet says to tap Power once per code, follow that booklet. Older GE units use the one-code-per-press method.
When this fails: a Roku Hisense still will not give you Home or apps. Auto-search cannot invent Bluetooth pairing. A dead LED also wastes the whole walk. Run the camera test again before you start over.
Fix 1: When GE codes still do nothing
When both code entry and auto-search fail, I check these in order. A Roku home grid is the usual dead end, not a bad remote. Power and volume are the GE job. Home and apps are not.
- Confirm the job. Power and volume are the GE job. Home and Netflix are not.
- Fit two fresh batteries. A weak IR LED can flash up close and die from the couch.
- Clear the IR window. Wipe the dark window on the front bezel. Move a soundbar or frame that sits in front of it.
- Unplug the TV for 30 seconds. If the original remote is also dead after that, the TV is the problem.
- Switch to a phone remote. Put the iPhone on the same Wi-Fi as the TV. Open HiRemote, pick the Hisense model, and follow the pairing steps.
