You can mirror your iPhone to your TV from Control Center. Open Screen Mirroring, tap your TV, and enter the AirPlay code if one appears. Both devices must sit on the same Wi-Fi network. If the TV never shows up, turn on the set's own screen-share app first, or use an HDMI adapter.
I run this on an iPhone 15 and a Hisense U8 VIDAA in the living room. A Hisense Roku R7 sits in the bedroom. The U8 usually appears in Screen Mirroring on its own. The R7 stays hidden until I open the TV-side receiver first.
I keep HiRemote on that iPhone for the D-pad, not for casting. The app talks to a Hisense over Wi-Fi the same way a plastic remote does. It will not put the iPhone picture on the glass.
The 30-second test
Do this before you change any setting. It tells you which method to open next.
- Wake the TV. Sleep mode hides AirPlay.

- Open Control Center. Face ID phones: swipe down from the top-right. Home-button phones: swipe up from the bottom.
- Tap Screen Mirroring. Note whether any TV name appears.
If you see a name, jump to Method 1. If the list is empty, use Method 2, then Method 3.

Method 1: AirPlay from Control Center
This is the path Apple documents for iPhone. It is free. It needs no extra app on the phone.
- Unlock the iPhone.
- Open Control Center. Face ID: swipe down from the top-right. Home button: swipe up from the bottom.
- Tap Screen Mirroring.
- Tap the TV name.
- Type the AirPlay code if the TV shows one.
- To stop, open Screen Mirroring again and tap Stop Mirroring.

When it will not work: the TV has no AirPlay receiver. Phone and TV sit on different Wi-Fi names. The TV is off, not just dark. Guest networks and AP isolation hide the set on purpose.
Method 2: Turn on the TV receiver first
Many sets do not advertise themselves until you open a receive app. Do this on the TV, then repeat Method 1.
Hisense Roku TV (R6, R7, R8): open Settings and look for Apple AirPlay and HomeKit. That is the iPhone path. Settings → System → Screen mirroring is a different feature. It is aimed at Android and Windows, not iPhone.

When it will not work: very old TVs have no receive app. Then skip to Method 3. Do not sit in an empty Screen Mirroring list hoping a name appears.
Method 3: Use an HDMI cable
This is the honest fallback. It does not need AirPlay. It does not need the same Wi-Fi for the picture.
- Get Apple's Lightning Digital AV Adapter or USB-C Digital AV Adapter. Match the port on your iPhone.
- Plug HDMI into the TV.
- Switch the TV to that HDMI input.
- Wake the iPhone. The screen should appear.
When it will not work: a cheap charging-only dongle has no video. Some adapters need extra power. You still need a way to change inputs. Use the buttons on the set, or a phone remote, if the plastic remote is missing.
On a Hisense Roku TV you can skip the install and use the browser Roku remote. Type the TV IP from Settings → Network → About, then hit the Source or Home keys. For VIDAA, Google TV, or Fire TV Edition, use HiRemote instead. Those platforms have no browser remote.
Method 4: Open those TV menus with HiRemote
HiRemote is a Hisense TV remote for iPhone. It is free to download (4.4 from 1,600+ ratings). It does not mirror the iPhone. It sends remote commands over your home Wi-Fi.
- Put the iPhone and the Hisense on the same Wi-Fi.
- Download HiRemote and select your Hisense model in the list.
- Follow the pairing steps in the app.
- On many VIDAA sets: Home → Settings → Network → Mobile Phone Remote Control → turn it on.
- Use the D-pad, Home, and Source keys to open Screen Sharing, AirPlay, or the HDMI input.
On a Hisense Roku TV you can skip the install. Use the online Roku remote. Type the IP from Settings → Network → About. That widget talks to Roku OS over the LAN. It does not work for VIDAA, Google TV, or Fire TV Edition.
When it will not work: phone and TV sit on different Wi-Fi. VIDAA 3.0 or earlier has no network control API. The TV is fully unplugged. HiRemote cannot invent AirPlay on a set that never had it.
Method 5: Fix an empty Screen Mirroring list
Work these in order. Stop when a TV name appears, or move to HDMI.
- Confirm the Wi-Fi name on both devices. Rejoin the main LAN, not the guest SSID.
- Reboot the TV. Pull power for 60 seconds if a soft restart does nothing.
- Toggle Airplane Mode on the iPhone, then rejoin Wi-Fi.
- Repeat Method 2 so the TV is actually listening.
- If the list stays empty, stop hunting AirPlay. Use Method 3.
An empty list is usually a network or receiver problem. It is not a broken iPhone. I wasted a night on the R7 before I opened AirPlay and HomeKit on the TV.
