Method 1 — The physical power button

  • Single press = power on/off
  • Long press (3 seconds) = some models open the input source menu
  • Hold 10+ seconds = forced shutdown

For Roku TV joysticks, also: push up/down = volume, left/right = channel, in (click) = OK.

Method 2 — Plug-cycle the TV

Some older Hisense models power on automatically when plugged into a live outlet, if "Last state" was "On" before unplugging. Unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug back in.

Method 3 — HDMI-CEC from another device

If you have an Apple TV, Fire Stick, PlayStation, Xbox, or Chromecast plugged in, that device's remote can power the TV on via HDMI-CEC. Most Hisense TVs ship with CEC enabled.

Method 4 — Wake-on-LAN from the phone app

Once your Hisense TV is set up and on Wi-Fi, you can power it on remotely using the phone remote app — but only if Wake-on-LAN is enabled.

To enable WoL: VIDAA: Settings → Network → Wake-on-LAN → On. Roku TV: Settings → System → Power → Fast TV start → On.

Method 5 — A $5 universal remote

GE, RCA, and One For All make varies universals that work with Hisense. Most respond to codes 0073, 0095, 0156, 0182, or 0227.

What if the physical button doesn't work?

  1. The TV's power board is dead. Hardware failure — varies in parts if DIY, $200+ at a repair shop.
  2. The button is mechanically broken.
  3. Frozen firmware. Unplug for 60 seconds, plug back in, try the button.

FAQ

Where is the power button on a Hisense TV?

VIDAA U-series: center-bottom of front bezel. Roku TV: small joystick on back-right. Google TV: bottom-left side. Fire TV: bottom-left of rear.

Can I turn on a Hisense TV with my phone?

Yes — using the phone remote app — if the TV is paired and Wake-on-LAN is enabled.

The button does nothing — is the TV broken?

Either firmware is frozen (60-second power cycle) or power board has failed.

If the physical button won't turn the TV on

Found the button but nothing happens? Work through these in order:

  • Check the standby LED first. Usually bottom-center or bottom-right. No LED at all means power isn't reaching the TV — the problem is the outlet, cable, or power board, not the button. Try a different wall socket.
  • Do a 60-second power cycle. Unplug the TV at the wall, wait a full minute so the power board drains, then plug back in and press once. This clears a frozen boot — the single most common cause.
  • Press once, firmly, and wait. The recessed button needs a deliberate press, and some models take 8-10 seconds to reach the splash screen. Rapid presses can toggle it back off.
  • Rule out the button itself. Plug in a USB keyboard and press its power key, or open the phone remote app — if either wakes the TV, the physical button has failed and the set is otherwise fine.

Where exactly is the power button on my Hisense TV?

A small recessed button, never labeled. VIDAA U-series: center-bottom of the front bezel. Roku R-series: a joystick on the back-right. Google TV A/H-series: bottom-left side. Run a finger along the underside of the bezel — you'll feel it.

Can I turn the TV on with a USB keyboard?

On most models, yes — plug a wired USB keyboard into a rear USB port and press its power key. It also gives you full arrow-key navigation once the TV is on, useful when you have no remote at all.
