How to Turn On a Hisense TV Without the Remote (Every Model)

To turn on a Hisense TV without the remote, press the small physical button hidden on the bottom or back of the TV. On most VIDAA models (U6, U7, U8, U9 series) it's a single button center-bottom under the bezel. On Hisense Roku TVs (R6, R7, R8) it's a tiny joystick on the back-right. On Google TV models (A6, A7, H8, H9, H10) it's a button at the bottom-left side. Once on, you can use a USB keyboard or the free phone remote app for full control.

Where the physical power button is, by Hisense series

VIDAA Smart TVs (U-series)

U6, U6K, U6N: Center-bottom of the front bezel. A small recessed button, no label.

U7, U7K, U7N: Same as U6 — center-bottom.

U8, U8K, U8N: Slightly off-center, usually about 1 inch left of center.

U9: Center-bottom, behind the bezel.

Hisense Roku TV (R-series)

R6, R6E, R6G: Back of TV, bottom-right corner. A small joystick — push left/right to navigate, in to confirm.

R7, R7E: Same as R6.

R8, R8H: Joystick on back-right, slightly higher up.

Hisense Google TV (A-series, H-series)

A6, A6G, A6H, A6K: Side-bottom-left, behind the bezel.

A7, A7H: Same as A6.

H8, H8G, H9, H9G: Center-bottom, similar to VIDAA U-series.

Hisense Fire TV (2024+)

Bottom-left of the rear of the TV, single button.

Method 1 — The physical power button

  • Single press = power on/off
  • Long press (3 seconds) = some models open the input source menu
  • Hold 10+ seconds = forced shutdown

For Roku TV joysticks, also: push up/down = volume, left/right = channel, in (click) = OK.

Method 2 — Plug-cycle the TV

Some older Hisense models power on automatically when plugged into a live outlet, if "Last state" was "On" before unplugging. Unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug back in.

Method 3 — HDMI-CEC from another device

If you have an Apple TV, Fire Stick, PlayStation, Xbox, or Chromecast plugged in, that device's remote can power the TV on via HDMI-CEC. Most Hisense TVs ship with CEC enabled.

Method 4 — Wake-on-LAN from the phone app

Once your Hisense TV is set up and on Wi-Fi, you can power it on remotely using the phone remote app — but only if Wake-on-LAN is enabled.

To enable WoL: VIDAA: Settings → Network → Wake-on-LAN → On. Roku TV: Settings → System → Power → Fast TV start → On.

Method 5 — A $5 universal remote

GE, RCA, and One For All make varies universals that work with Hisense. Most respond to codes 0073, 0095, 0156, 0182, or 0227.

What if the physical button doesn't work?

  1. The TV's power board is dead. Hardware failure — varies in parts if DIY, $200+ at a repair shop.
  2. The button is mechanically broken.
  3. Frozen firmware. Unplug for 60 seconds, plug back in, try the button.
